About Schwarzenegger Says
Schwarzenegger Says serves up a random line from Arnold Schwarzenegger's films every time you press the button, from the deadpan menace of The Terminator to the chaos of Kindergarten Cop. The collection has 91 quotes from 16 films, each checked against the film it's attributed to, spanning almost four decades of his career.
The Trivia tab turns the collection into a game. You're shown a quote and four films, and you pick the one it came from. The wrong answers are always real films from the list, so knowing which era a line sounds like only gets you so far. Your score is kept for the current visit and isn't sent anywhere.
Part of what makes his lines so memorable is delivery. Many of his best-known quotes are only a few words long, and a surprising number come from comedies rather than action films. Several became catchphrases far beyond the films themselves, most famously a three-word line from 1984 that he went on to repeat, in one form or another, across many later roles.
Films in the collection
- Conan the Barbarian (1982): John Milius's sword-and-sorcery epic, the film that turned the former bodybuilding champion into a leading man.
- The Terminator (1984): James Cameron's low-budget science fiction thriller, with Schwarzenegger as a cyborg assassin sent back in time. It gave him his most famous line.
- Commando (1985): Retired special forces colonel John Matrix sets out to rescue his kidnapped daughter, trading one-liners the whole way.
- Predator (1987): A commando team on a jungle rescue mission discovers it is being hunted by something that isn't human.
- The Running Man (1987): Adapted from a Stephen King novel published under the name Richard Bachman, about a wrongly convicted man forced onto a lethal game show.
- Twins (1988): A comedy pairing him with Danny DeVito as twins separated at birth, and one of his first big comic hits.
- Kindergarten Cop (1990): A tough detective goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher, which produced more quotable lines than almost any of his action films.
- Total Recall (1990): Paul Verhoeven's adaptation of a Philip K. Dick story, in which a construction worker's memories may not be his own.
- Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991): The Terminator returns as a protector rather than a hunter, in one of the most influential special effects films ever made.
- True Lies (1994): James Cameron's spy comedy about an agent keeping his double life secret from his own family.
- Junior (1994): A comedy reuniting him with Danny DeVito and director Ivan Reitman, about a scientist who becomes pregnant.
- Jingle All the Way (1996): A father's desperate Christmas Eve hunt for the year's must-have toy, now a holiday favorite.
- Eraser (1996): A U.S. Marshal in the witness protection program protects a witness from a conspiracy inside his own agency.
- Batman & Robin (1997): He played Mr. Freeze, whose relentless cold-themed puns are the reason this film appears in the quote list.
- Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003): His last starring role before he became Governor of California.
- Terminator: Dark Fate (2019): A return to the franchise alongside Linda Hamilton, 35 years after the original film.
